Booker T Calls Elimination Chamber “For Pain Freaks”

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has recently spoken about his appearance in the first ever Elimination Chamber match. The former WCW Champion was one of six men to wrestle in the debut for the satanic structure 21 years ago this year.

At Survivor Series 2002, competed alongside RVD, Kane, Chris Jericho, Triple H, and eventual winner Shawn Michaels. The final two in the match were Triple H and Shawn Michaels, with HBK walking out the match with the World Heavyweight title (the last world championship he ever won).

Booker T did not speak fondly of the match. He said it was “out of his comfort zone and was “like working in Hell”.

Speaking about his Elimination Chamber debut on his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker made it clear he didn’t enjoy the match.

“I felt like I was out of my comfort zone. A lot of things I couldn’t control as far as whether I was going to get hurt or not. Bouncing off a cage is very, very unforgiving. For me, Elimination Chamber match, the first one in WWE of that era, it was like working in hell.

“There’s no way you cannot get hurt. Those types of matches are for guys like pain freaks [that have] something to prove to the world, to themselves, you know, and looking to leave a mark.”|
