Former Swansea Star set for Shock Liverpool Move?

Former Swansea City loanee Renato Sanches looks to be set to sign for Liverpool in the coming days.

The Lille midfielder’s stock is high after winning Ligue 1 with Lille last season, and impressed for Portugal despite crashing out of Euro 2020 in the round of 16.

Liverpool are looking to replace departing Georginio Wijnaldum, who has signed for Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer, and a £30 million deal for Renato Sanches looks to be the one to do it.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida has reported the deal is close to being completed, with a £30 million bid enough to secure the former Swansea City man. Sanches will earn a reported £4 million a year, and his boundless energy and driving runs will cause havoc for Premier League defences.

He confusingly passed the ball off the pitch under no pressure, confusing the advertising boards with one of his team mates.

Renato Sanches broke out in superstardom with his dominant midfield performances for Portugal, as they became Euro 2016 Champions. This earned him a €80 million move to German giants Bayern Munich, but failed to settle in Germany and was considered a flop.

He had a mixed spell at Swansea. His performances at first were dreadful, struggling to perform the minimum of what you’d expect such a high profile player. He was famously substituted by boss Paul Clement at half time in a tie against Chelsea in November 2017. He confusingly passed the ball off the pitch under no pressure, confusing the advertising boards with one of his team mates.

He returned the Bayern the following season, but never managed to nail down a place in the first team.

He moved to Lille in August 2019. Here he started to regain his confidence and form, and in his second season beat PSG to stop their tenth Ligue 1 title in a row, and Lille’s first in almost 10 years.

Do you think Renato Sanches will be a good fit for Liverpool?
