CM Punk AEW Return Ready In “A Couple Of Months”

CM Punk could be set to return to AEW “in a couple of months” if Dave Meltzer is to be believed. The former AEW and WWE Champion was last seen at the All Out post match scrum, where he ranted about The Elite and Colt Cabana.

He had a backstage fight with the group right after. This led to all the men involved being suspended from the company and their title belts stripped from them. The Elite have since returned to the company while Punk remains missing for AEW Dynamite.

However, this was also because of an injury. CM Punk suffered an arm injury during his match against Jon Moxley at All Out, winning the AEW Championship but facing 8 months out of the ring due to injury.

Whether he would ever return to the company after “brawl out” is unknown, but Dave Meltzer has confirmed that he should be back from injury sooner rather than later.

Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, revealed that CM Punk‘s return to AEW could be as soon as in “a couple of months” but that there was no guarantee that the two-time AEW Champion would return to the company at all.

“They are lacking in that babyface position something fierce. They had a shot with MJF, obviously they did the double-cross on that. And MJF was great as a heel tonight, but they don’t have ‘the guy’.

“Punk’s not gonna be the guy either. I know some people might say, ‘Well Punk’s coming back’… Punk may come back. He will be available to come back if they want to use him in a couple of months. It’s not like it’s so far in the future. And of course if they were to bring Punk back, that opens up a lot of other issues that we can talk about another day.”

Current rumours suggest that CM Punk will team with FTR to take on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks if he returns to AEW this summer.

  1. Please….let CM Punk be on his way. As excited as I was to see him join AEW, he has proven that he is past his prime. He’s had multiple serious injuries. He’s not the darling of the locker room. It was a good idea, but Tony Khan… please be the businessman -not the mark & send him on his way.
