Shocking CM Punk Return Teased On AEW Dynamite

AEW had an interesting tease for a potential CM Punk return, this week on AEW Dynamite.

This comes after a series of Instagram posts from the former AEW Champion hinted at him coming back to All Elite Wrestling, despite the backstage fight he had with The Elite at All Out 2022.

At the event, CM Punk suffered an injury in his main event victory over Jon Moxley. In the post show press conference, an angry Punk ranted about The Elite and Colt Cabana, blaming them for leaking details to journalists like Dave Meltzer.

Many thought that CM Punk would be fired by AEW, with reports claiming Tony Khan was looking to pay off the contract of his top star.

However, this seems to be false, and CM Punk looks to be back in AEW. Next stop, a match with Kenny Omega and The Elite – if the tease on AEW Dynamite is to be believed.

CM Punk’s AEW Return Teased On AEW Dynamite

AEW teased a CM Punk return this week on AEW Dynamite, as they opened the show on TBS.

The show began with an ambulance driving away from the arena, with Adam Page and Kenny Omega looking worried. Inside was Nick Jackson, one half the Young Bucks and one third of The Elite.

Closely followed behind him Matt Jackson, who himself was wheeled into am ambulance and driven away, with Hangman Page joining him. Kenny Omega looked distraught outside, but was convinced to hang back by Don Callis, to prepare for his main event match against El Hijo Del Vikingo.

However, if you look at the background when the Young Bucks are being wheeled to the ambulance, there is one face you will not notice. That face is that of CM Punk.

Where there is cardboard propper up against the AEW production truck, eagle eyed fans have figured out what should have been visible under there.

The cardboard covers the face of CM Punk, purposely removing any image of the former AEW Champion from the broadcast of Dynamite.

To many, this seems like a reference to CM Punk’s return. The Elite are known for their cryptic clues, such as wearing a Cookie Monster (CM) shirt prior to Punk’s return to wrestling, among other subtle hints.

This could be a hint that it was CM Punk who attacked the duo, taking them out for what happened at All Out 2022. Whether this means that the whole thing is a work, or the two teams simple put the past behind them and turned real life into a storyline, remains to be seen.

There is also the option that Punk is not returning to AEW, and they did not want his face distracting from the moment. It’s likely that the Blackpool Combat Club are behind the attack, so the face-covering may just be AEW covering their tracks.
