Tony Schiavone made a huge comeback to wrestling in 2019. Nearly two decades after WCW went under, he came back to wrestling as the lead commentator on AEW Dynamite.

Fans had grown tried of Schiavone by the end of WCW, and there was little appetite to see him working on commentary for promotions like WWE, or TNA.

However, Tony Khan managed to coax him back into wrestling, bringing him out of the dog house and restoring his status as a wrestling legend on the mic.

Before returning to AEW, Tony Schiavone worked mainly as a baseball commentator – his true passion outside of wrestling.

However, he was also spotted working at a Starbucks during this time, leading some to speculate about the reason why Schiavone worked for the coffee giant.

The reason why Tony Shiavone worked for Starbucks may be different than what you expected.

Tony Schiavone worked at Starbucks because he had some “extra time” and wanted to try something new, while working as a baseball commentator.

Speaking to the Why It Ended podcast, Tony Schiavone reveraled that he didn’t work at Starbucks because he was on hard times, but that he had too much time and wanted to try something new.

“I started working for Starbucks because I had some extra time. Not because I was desperate and needed money but I love Starbucks and I had extra time on my hands and I thought, ‘You know what, I’m gonna give it a shot.’ And I did it for 15 months and thoroughly enjoyed it and you know what the hell?”

“I mean look, Tony Schiavone never ever, never ever shied away from doing work. I always rolled up my sleeves and worked harder than anybody and the fact that you’d see me at Starbucks working the window or mopping the floors or whatever, what the hell? Why not?”

“So I really enjoyed it for 15 months then I got so busy with the Georgia Bulldogs and doing baseball and then started doing the podcast and doing appearances and things like that that I just told Starbucks ‘I just don’t have time for it, I’m sorry.’”

“But the fact that you know that somebody says, ‘Oh Tony went to work at Starbucks because he’s desperate.’ No, Tony went to work for Starbucks because he always wanted to give it a try and he had some time to do it.”

Tony Schiavone also spoke about his time at Starbucks on “Hey EW”, revealing that he has been offered a job back in the store whenever he wants, owing to his hard work in the role.
