Darby Allin has recently revealed that follows the Straight-Edge lifestyle.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM’s Busted Open Radio, he revealed that he does not drink or take drugs, and follows the lifestyle created by the Punk rock scene in the 1980s and 1990s.

Speaking with host Ryan McKinnell and AEW star Mark Henry, Darby Allin spoke at length and in depth about his lifestyle, and why he subscribes to the straight-edge lifestyle just like CM Punk, one of his idols and his opponent at AEW All Out 2021.

Darby Allin battled his idol CM Punk, in the former WWE Champion’s first match back in over seven years.

Darby Allin and CM Punk are just two of the many straight-edge wrestlers currently active in wrestling.

After years of pro-wrestling being known for it’s crazy party scene and heavy drug and alcohol use, seeing wrestlers like Darby Allin and CM Punk abstaining from such drugs is a heartening thing to see.

In the Busted Open interview, Darby Allin reveals to the hosts that he is not only Straight-Edge, but also a loner.

He talks about how he found friendships in skateboarding, and how he does not want to use alcohol or drugs as a crutch to explain his failures in life.

In wrestling…I’m very much of a loner, you’re really not gonna see me at the after party, you’re not really going to see me like really anywhere for that matter when it goes to like big social settings.

I kind of like doing my own thing. But with the straight-edge lifestyle. It makes me feel like I’m in complete control at all times.

And if I fail at the end of the day I have no one else to blame but myself because I’ve had so much friends in skateboarding, or whatever it may be, failed at their career and look, well it was the alcohols fault or it was the drugs fault, whatever it may have been.

“And now I get a look at myself in the mirror and say, I have no one to blame but myself.

And that’s why I like doing it and then plus like people are surprised that I don’t even take pain pills, after everything I do in the ring like all I do is ice and physical therapy with like stretching and stuff like that like DDPY, and everything like that.

I want to show people that you don’t need to necessarily turn to that stuff because my style is the some of the most like gruelling on the body and you just show people that hey yo, just take care of yourself, natural and everything’s gonna be okay.”

Darby Allin is Straight-Edge

Darby Allin revealed that he is Straight-Edge.

He admitted that his abstaining from alcohol and drugs, like fellow straight-edge wrestlers like CM Punk and Kenny Omega, is not only for the health benefits, but also to not have anything else to blame his failures in life on other than himself.

Allin is one of the top stars in AEW, regularly pulling in the highest viewing numbers for his segments on AEW Dynamite.

His partnership with the WCW legend Sting has made them one of the top tag teams in the division, with Darby Allin and Sting defeating top AEW tag teams like FTR, Team Tazz and The Acclaimed.

Darby Allin remain undefeated in AEW, following their win over Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage at All In.

While Sting is almost 40 years older than Darby Allin (and one of the oldest AEW wrestlers ever), both men have formed a long-lasting bond that will last a life time.

Sting has revealed that he is learning from Darby Allin, rather than the other way round, at times.

Their partnership has been one of the high points of AEW since Sting’s debut at Winter is Coming 2020.

However, all good things must come to an end, and fans can almost certainly look forward to seeing the straight-edge Darby Allin taking on the born-again Sting in a blockbuster Sting vs Darby Allin match.
