Update on Johnny Gargano moving to AEW

AEW Dynamite Beach Break is in the books and eagle-eyed fans will have noticed one thing. Johnny Gargano did NOT make his debut at the first AEW special of 2022. Fans were disappointed when the former NXT Champion did not show up after the main event of Adam Cole vs Orange Cassidy. However, there has been some update on Johnny Gargano’s contract negotiations with Tony Khan and AEW.

Gargano recently left WWE and NXT due to his contract expiring. The former NXT Champion hasn’t wrestled since leaving the company in December 2021, with him reportedly taking time off to look after his pregnant wife, Candace LaRae.

Fightful Select reported that Johnny Gargano has been in contact with AEW over a deal with the promotion. However AEW has done nothing to promote the star coming to their show, but Gargano has had informal talks with people in the company.

Fightful select wrote;

“We’re told that Gargano has had contact with some people in AEW, but we haven’t heard if there have been formal conversations or negotiations about coming in.”

“Either way, we’re told that Johnny Gargano had made it clear to anyone inquiring about his services that as of now he’s taking time off to help out with Candice LeRae’s pregnancy in any way he can, as their child is due any day.”
