WWE Hall of Famer’s Edge and Beth Phoenix returned at the 2023 Royal Rumble to set up a mixed-tag team match against Judgement Day next month. It is expected the match will pit Edge and Beth Phoenix vs Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley.
The pair had not been seen since Extreme Rules 2022 where they had been beaten with steel chairs by the group. They returned to seek revenge on Saturday’s event, with Edge throwing Damian Priest and Finn Balor out of the match seconds after entering. However, they soon re-entered the fray and with the help of Dominik Mysterio eliminated Edge from the match.
The two sides brawled outside the ring before Rhea Ripley came out. She was met by the returning Beth Phoenix who hit her with a brutal spear onto the outside. This did not harm Rhea too badly though, as she went on to win the women’s Royal Rumble from the number one spot later that evening.
As reported by wrestlingnews.co, the current plan for Elimination Chamber 2023 will see Edge & Beth Phoenix vs Finn Balor & Rhea Ripley of Judgement Day. This rekindles the rivalry which started nearly a year ago and is expected to end at Wrestlemania 39. The plans for the feud involved a Hell in a Cell match at the Royal Rumble, although it seems that WWE have pushed that match between Edge and Finn Balor back to Wrestlemania 39. Elimination Chamber 2023 will take place in Quebec, Canada, the home country of Edge.
Rhea Ripley is expected to challenge Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania after winning the Royal Rumble match. She will be hoping to get revenge over The Queen, who beat her for the NXT Championship at Wrestlemania 36.
