Jon Moxley Gets Classic Rock Song for New Entrance Theme

AEW, DYNAMITE, Jon Moxley, Troggs, Wild Thing, Yuji Nagata

AEW Star and IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley debuted a new theme song last night on AEW Dynamite. Before his match again former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and Japanese Legend Yuji Nagata, Moxley entered with partner Eddie Kingston to “Wild Thing” by the Troggs.

Moxley was alledgedly inspired by Japanese Deathmatch Legend Atsushi Onita, famous for his FMW promotion where Exploding Barbwire Deathmatches which inspired Moxley’s match with Omega at Revolution. Onita famously entered to this classic rock song by the British Band ‘The Troggs’, and Moxley has been quoted as saying it is his favourite entrance of all time.

Onita enters the Tokyo Dome to the hit 1966 song.

It remains to be seen whether Moxley will continue using the theme, or if it was just a one off for this special match against a legend of the squared circle.

Tony Khan has been known to license well-known hits for his wrestlers entrance, most recently handing Orange Cassidy a new theme song in the form of The Pixies hit record, “Where is my mind”, one of the most popular songs for their seminal album “Dolittle”. The song replaces a generic rock riff which did not fit the “King of Sloth Style”, and it’s slow, plodding melody fits the Orange One’s lackadaisical wrestling style.
