On this day in Wrestling on April 10, 2020, WWE granted FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) their released from WWE. WWE released FTR, then known as The Revival, from their contracts after months of requesting to be let go. FTR had long been misused by WWE, who did not perceive tag team wrestling the same way the duo did.
WWE announced the decision to release the duo on Twitter, and just a few months they would be signed to AEW with their names. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder became Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, and their team name would change from The Revival to FTR, which was a joke made on the web show Being the Elite.
FTR have gone on to become one of the worlds best tag teams. Since their release, they have become ROH, AAA and AEW Tag Team champions and show little signs of stopping in their bid to become one of the best tag teams of all time.
Dax Harwood commented on when FTR released by WWE, stating that two years on he has had “the best year of my career; and it’s only April!”
