Disgraced former NXT star Nash Carter could be set for a shock return to WWE, with recent reports alleging his return alongside former tag team partner Wes Lee. The pair were known as MSK in WWE and held the NXT Tag Team Championships at the time of Carter’s release, forcing them to be vacated.
This left Wes Lee in a lurch in NXT 2.0, something he never really recovered from. He would benefit most from a return by Nash Cater, however whether or not WWE would take the risk on the controversial star is something that is still up for debate.
Xero News recently reported about the return for the former NXT Tag Team Champion, claiming that Triple H is keen to see Nash Carter and Wes Lee reunited as MSK. The duo were one of the top up-and-coming tag teams in NXT and had the rug pulled out from under them after allegations against the former came about in 2021.
The report by Xero News stated “One more name Hunter wants to bring back [is] Nash Carter. He hasn’t been called yet, but there are hopes of reforming MSK and calling them [to the main roster] up at some point.”
He would be joining other returning stars to the promotion like Karrion Kross and Top Dolla, both NXT wrestlers who were released under Vince McMahon but rehired once Triple H took over the running of creative. Kross has since been pushed as one of the top stars on Raw and is currently feuding with Drew McIntyre, which could be good for a potential MSK push in the future.
Nash Carter currently wrestlers on the independent scene, alongside tag team partner Trey Miguel as “The Rascals”. However, a return to the big leagues in WWE would be a huge career move for the star and under The Game’s watchful eye could become one of the main events of the tag team division.
However, the controversy behind his release could cause the company to step back from rehiring him, especially with allegations and photos that came out and caused his WWE release the first time around.
Why Did WWE Release Nash Carter?
WWE released Nash Carter due to a photo being released showing him doing a Nazi salute. This, coupled with abuse allegations from a former partner of his, meant that his position in WWE was untenable and the company had no choice but to fire him.
His release was untimely, given that he held one half of the NXT Tag Team Championships. His termination meant that the titles had to be vacated and a tournament set up to find out the new champions. The belts were eventually won by Pretty Deadly in a gauntlet match.
Nash Carter’s release came when his ex-partner, who had already claimed to have been abused by the star, released a compromising photo that put him in a very bad light. The photo, taken by Carter, showed the NXT star in a mirror, fresh from shaving his moustache in the same shape worn by the Austrian former Chancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler. Hitler was the head of the Nazi party and committed genocide in Germany, Poland and Austria during World War Two, so copying his facial hair was a bad look off the bad.
In addition, Carter raised his arm in a Nazi salute, the identifying mark of a Nazi and used by Neo Nazis to this day. Coupled with the moustache, the photo immediately became insidious and gave WWE no choice but to take action.
His ex-girlfriend and fellow wrestler Kimber Lee released the photo which got him fired by Triple H. However, The Game is rumoured to want to bring Nash Carter back to WWE and call MSK up to the main roster for a run with the tag team championships.
