Do you think The Undertaker vs Kane is the best feud in WWE history?
The Undertaker is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this Sunday, and in the run up to the event, fans have been reminiscing over their favourite opponents of The Deadman.
Whilst the likes of Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Edge and Brock Lesnar all can lay claim to being the best opponents of the Deadman, the Undertaker himself thinks that The Undertaker vs Kane is his best feud, and one of the best in wrestling history.
Kane entered the WWE in 1997 as the demonic brother of the Deadman, and engaged in a long-time feud with the Undertaker, including the Undertaker’s manager Paul Bearer. Kane and Undertaker later teamed together as the Brothers of Destruction, and were one of the most dominant tag teams of all time.
The Undertaker vs Kane
In an interview with the Sports Guys Talk Wrestling Podcast, the Undertaker revealed that his favourite feud in his career was the Undertaker vs Kane feud, and called it the “Greatest Story ever told in wrestling”
When asked about his most memorable opponents in wrestling, The Undertaker said:
“Wow, obviously a lot of people will think of Mick Foley, which is high up on the list. Obviously, Kane, is probably the greatest story ever told in wrestling. I also enjoyed my rivalries with Shawn Michaels, Triple H. Over the course of a 30 plus year career, you have a lot of interesting storylines and people that you get to compete against.”
When asked about what was the greatest storyline in his career, he once against reiterated that his battles with his brother Kane were the best of his 30 year career.
“But I am going to say probably the battles with Kane, I think. It was just, I think a storyline that people, whether you were a wrestling fan or you weren’t, you understood just because of sibling rivalries. And I think people identified with that. And Kane was always such a physically dominant athlete, that he always brought the best out of me. So I am going to go with the Brothers Of Destruction.” SOURCE
The Undertaker vs the first big feud for Kane in WWE. Kane entered the company by attacking his brother at the first Hell in a Cell match, ripping off the cell door and helping Shawn Michaels pin the Undertaker for the victory.
The pair then went on to face other multiple times, including in two Wrestlemania matches, at Wrestlemania 14 and 20. Kane also contributed to burying The Undertaker alive twice, in the Undertaker vs Vince McMahon match in 2003, and their own Buried Alive Match in 2010.
The Undertaker vs Kane is one of the greatest rivalries in WWE history. Whether it is one of the “greatest stories ever told”, as the Undertaker remains to be seen, but it is definitely one of the most memorable storylines in wrestling history.
