Ric Flair’s last match was a highly controversial yet impressive wrestling event, but did it get good match ratings? Will Ric Flair’s Last Match give us some five star match ratings from Dave Meltzer?
July 31st 2022 was a historic day in wrestling as two time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair had his final match in his storied career. From a career that started in 1972 to end in 2022 is an astonishing feat, even if the legendary Nature Boy has been retired for the past ten years.
Broadcast from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, the show is under the Jim Crockett Promotion banner, the company that Ric Flair worked for at his peak in the 1980s as the roaming NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion.
Ric Flair has been advised by many (including 39 out of 40 doctors) to not have one more match at the tender age of 73. He almost died a few years ago, is on blood thinners and was fitted with a pacemaker. Him wrestling even in a tag match with very limited activity is ill-advised yet the Nature Boy is refusing to listen and is going out on his own terms.
“On July 31, I’m still going to walk that aisle and style and profile as only I can,” Ric Flair said about his last match “But now, a bigger crowd, brighter lights! ‘The Nature Boy’ can’t wait to do what I do best. WOOOO!”
The event has a decent card, featuring some of the top stars of AEW, ROH and Impact Wrestling, as well as a talent who appeared for WWE at Summerslam 2022. These top talents are sure to get the event of Ric Flair’s Last Match some good star ratings from Dave Meltzer and some decent match ratings from Cagematch.net.
Here in this article we will look at the matches that took place at Ric Flair’s Last Match and see what match rating they were given. We will take their match rating from Cagematch.net, a wrestling match aggregation site where users vote on match ratings to give an average view of what the fans thought of the match.
We will also look at Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer’s star ratings. He famously rates matches out of five stars, but occasional breaks the match ratings and awards up to seven star matches. We will look at both his and Cagematch’s Ric Flair’s Last Match star ratings and match ratings.
Here are the match ratings for Ric Flair’s Last Match.
Ric Flair’s Last Match
Ric Flair’s Last Match was a tag team match that pitted some legends of the ring against each other, and crossed the Forbidden Door like never before.
Ric Flair teamed with his son-in-law and AEW star Andrade El Idolo to take on AEW’s Jay Lethal and WWE’s Jeff Jarrett. This mix of promotions had made this a dream match, with Jeff Jarrett taking on a number of AEW’s stars (and former rival Flair) despite appearing the night before at WWE’s Summerslam 2022.
The bulk of the match was wrestled with the other three men, with Flair looking terrible. He collapsed on multiple occasions and had to be helped to his feet to put on the figure four leg lock for the finish. He won the match, but Ric Flair’s last match star rating could reach the minuses, given how awful and scary it was to watch.

Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Rachael Ellering – Impact Knockout’s Championship
The three way women’s match was not bad but was nothing to write home about. The champion Jordynne Grace defended her championship against two of the top women on the American independence in a match that is a fun watch for fans of women’s wrestling.
Grace forced Rachael Ellering (the daughter of Paul Ellering) to submit with a rear naked choke. These have helped carry on the legacy of the Knockouts division in Impact Wrestling and could do well in any top promotion across the world.

The Wolves vs Motor City Machine Guns
Two of the most legendary teams of the 2000s battled in a “dream tag rematch” on Ric Flair’s Last Match, when the Motor City Machine Gunes (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) face off against The Wolves (Davey Richard and Eddie Edwards).

Killer Kross vs Davey Boy Smith Jr
A disappointing match that surprised nobody, Killer Kross took on Davey Boy Smith Jr in a forgettable match that covered neither men in glory.
Kross beat the son of the British Bulldog in quick succession, in a show of very short matches. He looked like a star alongside Scarlett Bordeaux but did very little in the ring to convince Triple H or Tony Khan to sign him.
Meanwhile, Harry Smith showed just why he was released by WWE, just months after signing without making no appearances.

In an okay match which highlighted the Von Erichs lack of quality, The Brisoces won the match in under 8 minutes.
