Former NXT star Bronson Reed looks set for a surprise return to the WWE at the 2023 Royal Rumble. Recent reports from Dave Meltzer revealed that he had been offered a contract by WWE, just over a year after his shock release from the NXT brand. He was a favourite of Triple H on the brand and was a NXT North American Champion before his release, his firing making very little sense in the grand scheme of things.
During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer revealed Bronson Reed, who currently wrestles in New Japan Pro Wrestling as JONAH, is offered big money to return to the company but is currently getting a big push in Japan and it would be a risk to give that up for the WWE.
“JONAH certainly has an offer from WWE and he’s got to make a decision. Will it be New Japan or WWE? He’s got a great push in New Japan, but you know, it’s going to be his call. He would actually, probably do much better in New Japan Pro Wrestling than he will do in WWE, but there is a big difference in money. Or at least the potential money. They’re completely different lifestyles. It depends on [what he wants.] I know a lot of guys would choose WWE, and a lot of guys would choose New Japan. It’s the circumstances.”
“The one thing with New Japan is he’s going to get a really big push, we’ve already seen that. He’s going to be protected and he’s going to get over because he did get over at a high level. In WWE, on the main roster, you just don’t know. Main roster WWE, even the bottom number is a quarter-million [dollars a year.] That’s bottom, and obviously top is millions if you make it to the top.”
The report was corroborated by Xero News. The Twitter Insider has been right on a number of recent exclusive news and is considered one of the newest and most reliably sources on the platform. They revealed that is likely that Reed debuts at the 2023 Royal Rumble and that he will not be the last of the surprise signings made by Triple H in the near future.
I’m told Bronson Reed is very likely going to sign a deal with WWE, he may return in the Rumble match. HHH wants a few surprises in his first Rumble. Reed, is not going to be the last name who comes in, but i’m told not to expect 10 more men coming into the company, likely a few more and HHH will leave it there, all comes down to what he thinks is best for business.
Those signings are currently unknown, but it looks like Bo Dallas and Erick Rowan may return to the company. Bo Dallas was the third ever NXT Champion and could be in for a big push. Both he and Rowan would likely be a part of Bray Wyatt’s new faction, tentatively known as WYATT 6, due to their past history with the star.
