Wrestling fans have long been intrigued by the storyline that Jason Jordan is the long-lost son of wrestling legend Kurt Angle.
Since the revelation of their supposed familial connection in 2017, there has been much speculation and debate among fans about the legitimacy of this storyline.
In this article, we will take a closer look at the evidence for and against the theory that Jason Jordan is really Kurt Angle’s son, and explore what it means for the world of professional wrestling if this storyline is indeed true.
Jason Jordan Was Revealed As Kurt Angle’s Son On Raw
In 2017, one of the most shocking and ridiculous WWE storylines in years occurred, and Jason Jordan was at the heart of it.
WWE announcer Corey Graves, one day on Monday Night Raw, revealed that he knew a secret about Kurt Angle. He went on for weeks refusing to tell him, until one day the cat was let out of the bag and Angle’s secret was revealed to all.
He had a son. Not one of the many children he already has (he has four daughters and one son), but another illegitimate child that he never knew about.
A child that was born out of an affair over 20 years ago ,that had never come to light – until that episode of WWE Raw.
It was revealed that Jason Jordan was Kurt Angle’s son. Jordan had known about his mother’s affair and joined WWE to not only achieve his dreams, but follow in his father’s footsteps and maybe one day to meet him.
Is Jason Jordan Actually Kurt Angle’s Son?
Jason Jordan is not Kurt Angle’s son in real life. He was chosen as his son by Vince McMahon, for storyline purposes in the WWE.
Jason Jordan was, at the time, in a tag team with Chad Gable. The pair were known as American Alpha and were former Tag Team Champions in NXT and on the main roster.
Jason Jordan’s real father has actually appeared in the WWE before. He has been spotted in the front row on some shows in the past, supporting his son in his wrestling career.
Chad Gable Was Originally Meant To Be His Son
While it may have been a shock to see Jason Jordan as Kurt Angle’s son in the WWE, he was not actually the first choice for the role.
Instead, his American Alpha teammate Chad Gable was considered to be Kurt Angle’s illegitimate child, with his background in Olympic wrestling being the key link to the WWE Hall of Famer.
Speaking on his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, the former WWE Champion revealed how Vince McMahon considered Chad Gable, but eventually settled on Jason Jordan being his son.
“I never heard about Dixie Carter or Stephanie McMahon, that never came to me at least. But Chad Gable was a possibility, I knew they were throwing that around. But Vince [McMahon] decided to make it Jason Jordan, and that’s how it stood.”
He also revealed that the whole storyline was a rib (a joke), based on McMahon learning of his history of dating black women.
While this shouldn’t really be funny to anyone, it was the Vince McMahon. This is also why he booked the infamous feud between Kurt Angle and Booker T, where
“Vince McMahon caught wind that I dated a couple of African American women in my past, just a couple. About 17 years ago, he had me do a programme with Booker T and Sharmell where I was stalking Sharmell,
Booker T’s wife, and now it’s Jason Jordan. So Vince likes to take ribs and turn them into storylines.
He just has this crazy weird personality, and he just wanted to kind of rub it in my face, like, ‘I know what was going on in your life and we’re going to make some of that storyline
This is also why he booked the infamous feud between Kurt Angle and Booker T, where Angle famously claimed he wanted “Bestiality sex” with his wife, Queen Sharmell.
