Despite retiring at age 25, Saraya is one of the greatest women wrestlers in WWE history.
Debuting on the main roster at age 21, she became the youngest Divas Champion ever when she beat AJ Lee in her first WWE match ever.
She went on to feud with Lee, Nikki Bella and many more female stars, as she earned herself the moniker of the Anti-Diva.
Due to a slew of injuries throughout her life, Saraya was forced to retire from wrestling in 2018.
However, she came out of retirement in 2022, signing for All Elite Wrestling. Saraya’s first AEW match was a main event-level match, and one that we will go through in this article.
Saraya First AEW Match
Saraya‘s first match in AEW came at Full Gear 2022, when she took on one of the top female stars in AEW history.
At Full Gear, Saraya battled Britt Baker in a huge match. Baker is a former AEW Women’s Champion, and the most popular woman on the roster.
Meanwhile, earlier that year Saraya had come out of retirement, ready to wrestle for the first time in years.
Under her previous name of Paige, Saraya announced her retirement from wrestling on the Raw after WrestleMania 34. She was only in her mid 20s, and was a horrible thing for her to go through.
However, after being released by the WWE, she debuted in AEW in 2022 at AEW Grand Slam. She immediately slotted into the main event of the women’s division and booked a match against Britt Baker at Full Gear.
In her first match back since retirement, Saraya defeated Britt Baker at Full Gear 2022. This was her first victory since 2017, and showed the world that she was back in the ring – and for good.
Since then, the Englishwoman has wrestled infrequently in AEW, getting back into prime ring shape on the run-up to All In 2, taking place from Wembley Stadium in London.
