Twitter insiders have leaked the star of this years 2K Showcase for WWE 2K23. WWE Hall of Famer Edge has apparently been chosen as this years star, with a series of matches commemorating his incredible career.
In a recent Twitter post, XeroNews have reported that Edge will be the subject of the 2K experience this year, with his 25 year+ career being honoured in digital form.
He will follow in the steps of Rey Mysterio, whose legendary run in WCW and WWE was honoured by a series of matches in WWE 2K22. Fans could play as Mysterio to recreate all of his most famous matches, facing off with opponents like Batista, Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker.
Along with the news that Edge will be the star of the 2K Showcase in WWE 2K23, a list of potential matchups was also provided by the Twitter account. The rumoured matches for Edge’s WWE 2K23 showcase include his Wrestlemania 22 match against Mick Foley, his battle with The Undertaker at Summerslam 2008 and his recent bout alongside Rey Mysterio at Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
The matches rumoured to be included in WWE 2K22 are:
- Edge vs Kurt Angle – King of the Ring 2001
- Edge, Tajiri & Shelton Benjamin vs Evolution (Raw 2004)
- Edge vs Randy Orton (Vengeance 2004)
- Edge vs Kane (Raw 2005)
- Edge vs Mick Foley (Wrestlemania 22)
- Edge vs John Cena vs Rob Van Dam (Raw 2006)
- Edge vs Carlito (Raw 2006)
- Edge vs John Cena (Summerslam 2006)
- Edge vs The Undertaker (Summerslam 2008)
- Edge vs Randy Orton (Backlash 2020)
- Edge vs Seth Rollins (Summerslam 2021)
- Edge & Rey Mysterio vs Judgement Day (Clash at the Castle 2022)
These matches would mean that a few new wrestlers would be included in WWE 2K23 that weren’t in last years edition. Carlito, Tajiri and Kurt Angle would be the stars added to the game, after several years out of the series for some.
One match (or series of matches) not included is the famous ladder matches that he and Christian competed in against The Dudley Boys and The Hardy Boys. Given that of the six men in the match, only two (Edge and D-Von Dudley) are signed to the WWE, it would make getting this match done tricky.
