Former WWE Superstar Hornswoggle doesn’t believe the story behind Chris Benoit’s death, and shockingly thinks that somebody else murdered him and framed him.
The death of Chris Benoit is one of the great tragedies in wrestling history. The former World Heavyweight Champion killed his wife and son in July 2007, before taking his own life during a horrific period over a harrowing weekend.
The news of his and his family’s death came as a huge shock to his friends and family. He was always known as an intense, yet quiet and loving person who would do anything for his children.
He loved his son Daniel more than anything in the world (according to Chris Jericho), so when the news came of the family dying, the idea that it could have been Benoit seemed impossible.
This made it all the more shocking when, after an ill-time tribute show honouring his life, it was revealed that Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son over the course of a weekend, before killing himself.
He missed the Vengeance 2007 show, where he was meant to face CM Punk for the ECW Championship, and took his own life.
The events were so harrowing and out of character that some wrestlers still do not think that he did it.
While his close friend Chris Jericho at first could not believe it, he wrote in his second book entitled “Undisputed: How to Become World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps“ that he finally came to terms with the fact that his best friend was not himself when he did those unspeakable acts.

Hornswoggle thinks Benoit didn’t kill his family
One former WWE star that still can’t believe he would do such a thing is former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Hornswoggle.
The “Leprechaun” wrestler had a successful run in the company from 2006 to 2016, teaming with a number of wrestlers like Finlay, Three Man Band and De-Generation X.
He became a member of the latter team in some memorable segments alongside Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
Hornswoggle spoke to Sean Oliver during his episode of Kayfabe Commentaries, speaking about his time in the WWE in 2007.
Naturally, the topic of Chris Benoit’s death came up and he spoke about how the WWE locker room found out about their co-workers passing.
“We’re all in suits because it’s going to be Vince’s funeral, so we’re all in suits. we’re all called to the ring, Johnny [Former Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis] calls it, “everyone in the ring! Everyone in the ring!” [Steve] Austin is on the side of the barricade. “It’s like someone died!”
“Dean Malenko goes behind Vicky [Guerrero] and whispers something. Man she just loses it. I was like “What the fuck is going on! What’s going on here?” Then Vince tells us all what you know, someone broke into the Benoit house and killed his wife his son and Chris Benoit”
Hornswoggle then noted that he still doesn’t believe that Chris Benoit committed the murders, and that “the evidence” points toward someone else killing him and his family.
“Still to this day, I don’t think it happened. I don’t think it happened. Someone killed him. There’s too much evidence proving the evidence wrong I feel.”
It has pretty much been proven that it was Benoit who killed his family, then himself.
The deaths of his son and wife were found to have been up to two days before his own, indicating he lived with their bodies over the weekend before ending himself. He also left a bible with their bodies, as he was a deeply religious man.
Traces of drugs were found in his son during the autopsy, indicating he drugged his son so he would not feel any pain as he was strangled to death.
Hornswoggle was released by WWE and continued to wrestle on the independent scene. He appeared in a cameo for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) during the Inner Circle’s trip to Las Vegas in November 2020.
The former Cruiserweight Champion’s last match for the WWE came in 2018 at the Greatest Royal Rumble, although he also appeared during the Women’s Royal Rumble match in 2019!
