Kansas vocalist and Keyboardist Ronnie Platt has commented on The Elite’s of ‘Carry On My Wayward Son’ – calling the teams entrance in AEW “so cool”.
In an interview with The Paltrocast, Platt shared his opinions on The Elite using their ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ track for their AEW entrance. Kenny Omega, Nick & Matt Jackson debuted the song as their new entrance theme at AEW Full Gear 2022, on 19th November 2022. The song was immediately a huge hit, with the crowd singing along to the rock classic as soon as they heard the opening acapella vocals.
They have since used the song regularly on AEW Dynamite, replacing the previous “Being the Elite” theme song they have used in AEW since Fyter Fest 2019, where the trio defeated The Lucha Bros and Laredo Kid in a six-man tag team match.
The band members of Kansas seemed thrilled their famous song is being used by the trio on national TV weekly, if Ronnie Platt is anything to go by. The pianist of the group sat down with The Paltrocast to heap praise on the trio for introducing the song to a new generation of fans. He said that he loved the video of their first entrance with “the people going nuts”, noting it was “so cool”.
He also called the use of “Carry On My Wayward Song” as the Elite’s entrance music as being “good promo” that is ‘really introducing Kansas, even though the kids might not know who the band is or haven’t heard the song before’.
“That’s the original that they’re using. Then I saw that video where they’re walking out in the stadium, and all the people are going nuts. Oh my god, that was so cool. That’s just good for the band. That’s good promo and really introducing Kansas, even though the kids might not know who the band is or haven’t heard the song before, it really is initiating young people to that music. So that’s all good. We call that job security.”
The Elite recently completed a remarkable turnaround in their best of seven series against AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle. They came from 3-1 down to win the series 4-3, putting on some of the best AEW matches of all time. They are now two-time AEW Trios Champions, having won their first title at All Out 2022, soon vacating the belts due to a backstage brawl with CM Punk.
