Toni Storm was released from her WWE contract on December 29th 2021 in mysterious circumstances. She had been embroiled in a heated feud with Charlotte Flair, having recently been covered in cream from a pie thrown at her by Flair. She was set to be a main event star on Smackdown Live’s WWE Women’s Division, having been a former NXT UK Women’s Champion early on in her WWE career.

However, details of her release were revealed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer revealed it was actually Toni Storm who requested her release from WWE, having felt “Burned out” by her run on the WWE main roster.

Storm is the latest Australian star to be released by WWE, joining “the Iconics” Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, as well as Shane Thorne, who left WWE in the past year.

Storm was never booked for ahouse show in Washington, DC. Itt was a last minute call and she was told at 8am that morning that she was need to perform at that nights show.

Meltzer added that she’s walking away from a good main roster contract, making good money for someone in their infancy on the main roster in WWE. The main reason going around about Storm’s exit is that she felt burned out. A few weeks back, Storm talked about her frustration about having to sit in catering at SmackDown, which could have contributed to her feeling burned out and needing to quit for her own mental health.
