Jade Cargill made a memorable debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on November 11, 2020, and instantly became a rising star in the industry.
With her incredible athleticism, stunning looks, and undeniable charisma, Cargill has quickly become a fan favourite and a force to be reckoned with in AEW.
The match was also one of the most insane and ridiculous debut matches in wrestling history. It featured a top star, a baby getting in the way of the plan and a basketball legend taking a bump through a table.
Jade Cargill was green in the match, but Tony Khan saw money the second she stepped between those ropes, alongside her A-list tag team partner.
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at Jade Cargill’s debut in AEW, her impressive performances so far, and what the future holds for this rising star in the world of professional wrestling.
Jade Cargill’s AEW Debut
Jade Cargill debuted in AEW on the November 11th, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite.
She interrupted a Cody Rhodes promo, challenging him to a mixed tag-team match alongside her new partner, basketball legend Shaquille O’Neil.
Brandi Rhodes got involved and shouted at Cargill, and it looked like the stage was set for Cody Rhodes to team with Brandi Rhodes, to take on Shaq and a debuting Jade Cargill.
Jade Cargill’s first match in AEW would come four months later, however. On the March 2rd, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite, she teamed with Shaq to take on Cody Rhodes and his partner.
However, this was not Brandi Rhodes. Because Cody Rhodes managed to end racism by impregnating his wife, Red Velvet was chosen as his partner, and the mixed tag team match was set for Dynamite.
Her debut match was absolutely bonkers. It was also Shaq’s first in AEW, and second match ever after appearing as a shock guest at WrestleMania 32, in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Weapons were used, huge bumps were taken, and Cody Rhodes even sent Shaq crashing through a wooden table. It was ridiculous in the best way, and hid Jade Cargill’s deficiencies in the ring beautifully.
Jade Cargill ended her debut match with a win, knocking out Red Velvet with her finishing move (“Jaded”) and pinning her for the win.
She would go on to win every other match she would have for the next two years, racking up tens of wins in the biggest win streak AEW has ever seen.
