Eve Torres is a sometimes forgotten part of WWE history, despite being one of the greatest WWE Divas of all time. The record-setting Divas Champion was a huge star in her day, but since the Divas Revolution has been largely forgotten, and her historic run ignored.
She was a shining light in the women’s division during some of its darkest times, and managed to win a record three world titles in her short career in the WWE. Having to wrestle against some of the worst WWE Divas of all time, Eve Torres still managed to put on great performances and make herself look good in the ring.
Eve Torres left the WWE in 2013, just missing out on her chance to take part in the Women’s Revolution, and truly showing what she could do in a ring against some of the top female wrestlers in the WWE (and not Jillian Hall and Alicia Fox).

What Happened To Eve Torres?
Eve Torres left WWE in January 2013, ending her six-year run with the company that saw her become the top female wrestler in the company. She won the WWE Divas Championship a record three times, a feat which was matched by AJ Lee, but has never been beaten.
She left the company in 2013, just before the Royal Rumble that year. During her time in the WWE, there were no Women’s Royal Rumble match (which only debuted in 2018), and the division was not treated like the men’s. This meant that there weren’t many opportunities for Eve Torres, given that she had achieved all she reasonably could in the WWE.
Eve Torres became an instructor for the Gracie Women Empowered self-defense program, teaching women to protect themselves. She used her experience in the WWE to help train women in the art of self-defense, using the opportunity to spend more time at home with her husband, and starting a family.
She signed for the WWE again in 2014, but in an ambassador role rather than as a wrestler. She has since appeared in a number of legends shows for the WWE, taking part in Table for 3, the WWE Evolution pay per view and at the Raw Reunion Show.
Eve Torres was also included in her first WWE video game in a decade, being included as DLC for WWE 2K23. She joined other first-time appearances in the game, like the legendary Harley Race, a decade after wrestling her last match for the WWE.
Since leaving the WWE, Eve Torres has not returned to wrestle a match for the company. She was expected to appear as a surprise entrance in the Royal Rumble match at some point since 2018, but has not far neglected to appear.
Why Did Eve Torres Leave WWE?
Eve Torres revealed in an interview with the WWE that she left the company in order to start a family. The former WWE Divas Champion got engaged to Rener Gracie the year before her return, and had to make a tough decision in regard to her family.
Torres wanted to plan her wedding and start a family, something which was impossible by keeping the unruly WWE schedule. Given that she was the top women’s wrestler in the company, Eve Torres would have been on the road for the majority of the time, spending over 250 days away from home.
This was unacceptable, and something that would have impossible for her if she wanted to have children. She was also getting more involved in the Gracie Family business, which took up a lot of her time. Eve Torres was forced to make a difficult choice – one that the male WWE Champions do not have to make – and step away from the ring to have children.
However, this does not necessarily mean that she had to leave for good. Many women’s wrestlers, including two of the top stars in WWE today (Becky Lynch and Asuka) have left the business to have children, only to return to the ring soon after. Having children does not mean that you need to leave the WWE for good.
However, it is the time on the road that was the main factor behind Eve Torres leaving WWE. She would have to spend most of her time away from her children, which is something that no mother would want when starting her family. The only option for her was to leave the WWE, and based off her recent comments it was the right thing to do, for her.
While she was planning to leave for months, Eve Torres had her last WWE match in January 2013. She put over Kaitlyn, handing her the Divas Championship and immediately leaving the company at her peak.
Return To WWE
Eve Torres is not eyeing a WWE return at the moment, because she wants to spend her time raising and having more children. However, the former Divas champion has spoken about who she would like to face if she did return to the ring, at some point in the future.
Speaking to Ring the Belle, Eve Torres claimed she would love to face Becky Lynch in her WWE return, but only once she “stopped having kids”.
“I am obsessed with the women’s roster right now. There are great talents, but there are so many different characters that I’m just loving. Obviously, I love Becky Lynch. She’s ‘The Man,’ right? So I would love to face her if I came back. If I stopped having kids, then maybe that will happen.”
Eve Torres returned to the WWE in 2018, taking part in the pre-show panel on the women-only pay per view event called “WWE Evolution”. While her surprise appearance was welcomed warmly by the fans, she did not turn it into having one more match in the WWE, content with her current life as a mother.
