Jon Moxley Gets 2nd Five-Star Match In One Week

After the incredible Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing, Jon Moxley has picked up his second five-star match in one week.

Alongside Blackpool Combat Club teammate Claudio Castagnoli, Moxley was awarded five-stars by Dave Meltzer at Double or Nothing 2023, and later at NJPW Dominion 6.4.

They teamed with Shota Umino to take on the trio of Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii and Hiroshi Tanahashi, in the semi-main event of NJPW’s latest show.

After winning NEVER Openweight 6 man Tag Team Championship gold at Dontaku from Strong Style, the champion team of Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii and Hiroshi Tanahashi had their first ever title defence against a star-studded side.

AEW’s Blackpool Combat Club were represented by Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli, who teamed with Moxley’s former Young Boy Shota Umino in a huge six-man tag team match.

Umino took the pin for his side after Okada hit him with a Rainmaker. After the match, Bryan Danielson challenged Kazuchika Okada to a match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

This match was awarded five-stars in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, for the second week in a row for both Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli.

Their first five-star match this week came from the Blackpool Combat Club’s battle with The Elite, in an Anarchy in the Arena match, at AEW Double or Nothing 2023.

Moxley’s match from NJPW Dominion 6.4 was the highest rated match of the week.
