Adam Page vs Kazuchika Okada

The first match at Forbidden Door was announced on AEW Dynamite this week, with CM Punk vs Hiroshi Tanahashi being confirmed when Tanahashi interrupted Punk’s open challenge for the show.

However, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that another match that is due to take place on the show, that is not yet announced, is a blockbuster match – Adam Page vs Kazuchika Okada.

Fresh off the back of a devastating loss to CM Punk at Double or Nothing, the former AEW Champion will look to bounce back from defeat by defeating the IWGP Champion and taking the IWGP World Championship with him.

Okada has held the title since Wrestlekingdom this year when he beat Shingo Tagaki for the belt. He looks set to put the title on the line against Adam Page, as reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed another match set to be included on Forbidden Door is Adam Page vs Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He noted that the card is subject to change and that it was also include a number of tag match which may disaapoint some fans.

“I had seen a lineup. Which was interesting because it was Punk & Tanahashi for the AEW title, and the other match was Okada & Adam Page which actually could be a hell of a match for the IWGP title, so I don’t know if that will happen, change, or whatever. Then the rest of the show is probably a lot of tag matches.”

While many fans were hoping to see Bryan Danielson vs Okada, having Hangman in the match instead will still be a dream match. They have fought before in NJPW, but Page has grown so much since then and become one of the best wrestlers in the world

Update: The Wrestling Observer has posted an update on the potential Hangman vs Okada match at Forbidden Door. While Dave Meltzer reported on Adam Page vs Kazuchika Okada taking place at the event, the publication have advised that “That match is not planned for the PPV as the lineup is being kept a secret.”

That is not saying that the match is not taking place, just that the sources for the match may have not been reporting accurately. We will update this most with any more data as we get it.
