AJ Lee could be set for a return to WWE after posting a post-workout photo of herself on Twitter. The former WWE Divas Champion has been out of action since 2015 and could be itching to get back into the ring after 7 long years.
Her husband CM Punk recently returned to the ring after a 7 year hiatus and signed for AEW. Punk had bad blood with WWE which included him being fired on his wedding day to AJ Lee.
However, AJ Lee (real name April Mendez) does not harbour the same grudge to WWE as her husband. AJ Lee’s WWE run came to an end on good terms, with her winning the WWE Diva’s championship months after her husband was fired from WWE.
A WWE return for AJ Lee would be huge for a WWE women’s division that just lost Naomi and Sasha Banks. The pair walked out of Monday Night Raw this week and their current contract situation are unknown.
While she has not announced a WWE return and is currently committed to working on commentary for Women of Wrestling (WOW), a recent social media post has fans exciting for an AJ Lee return to WWE.

AJ Lee recently posted a photo on Twitter that had fans excited for a potential WWE return.
The former WWE Divas Champion posted a pair of photos that showcased her toned abs and impressive muscles as she prepares to be the lead commentator on the Women of Wrestling shows.
Fans are excited about an AJ Lee return based on comments made by her husband CM Punk in the past.
In an interview with last year with SportsNation, CM Punk spoke about a potential AJ Lee return to wrestling and the selfish reason he wants her to stay away from the ring
“She’s doing her own thing. And, you know, to be completely honest, I know her and if I said, ‘Hey, you want to do this wrestling match?’, and if she was all gung-ho to do it, I know she would want to get into stupid shape to do it, and I like her thick. So I don’t want to take that away from myself.”
However, her current shape does not guarantee she is retuning to the ring and she may well stay retired. Spinal injuries were one reason AJ Lee retired from WWE in the past and they could still be bad enough to keep outside the ring.
