WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has revealed that he would be happy to return at the Royal Rumble, claiming he checks every day to see if he’s been offered a spot in this years match.
The six time world champion has never won a Royal Rumble match, but did manage to become the King of the Ring in 2006 as the regal King Booker. He famously lost to Triple H at Wrestlemania 19 in controversial fashion but still managed to have a Hall of Fame level career, given the fact he was inducted twice.
A return at the Royal Rumble would be just one in a long line of legends making one last appearance in the famous match. The Royal Rumble winner earns themselves a shot at Roman Reigns’ WWE Championship at Wrestlemania, so these former stars of yesteryear will be hoping to reinvigorate their career and add another huge match to their impressive canon.
The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s most anticipated shows of the year, with fans tuning in in their droves to see which of the 30 men will outlast 29 others to become the winner and book their ticket to the main event of Wrestlemania. Legends like Roddy Piper, DDP and Kevin Nash have all made huge returns at the event and it looks like Booker T hopes to do the same at the 2023 Royal Rumble.
Speaking the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T spoke about how he’s “always down” to make a big Royal Rumble return. He showed up a surprise entrant in the 2011 and 2012 Royal Rumble matches and checks “the mail every day” hoping for an invite from Triple H to make one last return for the WWE.
“I will be checking the mail every day all the way up until that day, because if I get an invitation I’m definitely going to execute it, I’m definitely going to be there and I’m going to be prepared to be in the middle of the ring if that happens. But no, nobody’s talked to me or anything like that about being in the Rumble. I don’t have any itches to scratch or anything like that, but hey man, I’m always down.”
Booker T recently announced that he would be returning to the ring for a match later this month, in his own Reality of Wrestling promotion. This could signal him getting back into ring shape for the Rumble return, but of course that is simply speculation and not confirmed.
