WWE Royal Rumble Predictions 2023 & Potential Royal Rumble Returns

This post will be your go-to for the WWE Royal Rumble 2023 predictions. In this page, we shall look at the potential matches for the 2023 Royal Rumble and who could be the winners of these matches. This post will be updated as we get closer to the event, as more information about potential winners and surprise returns becomes clearer.

This includes all of the matches that we think will happen at the event and who will win the matches. We will predict who is going to win the 2023 Royal Rumble match (both men and women’s) and who could be surprise returns in both matches.

Royal Rumble 2023 Predictions

Women’s Royal Rumble

Our prediction for the Women’s Royal Rumble is the recently returned Bayley. As a former champion she has the pedigree to go all the way in WWE and hold the famous World Championship. She is one of the most exciting in-ring talents the women’s division has, especially with the addition of Dakota Kai and IYO SKY as part of her new faction.

If not Bayley then Sasha Banks could also be a shout. She has previous been the ironwoman in multiple rumble matches and has reported re-signed a deal with WWE despite walking out on Monday Night Raw some weeks ago. With Vince McMahon gone and Triple H in charge, it could be Sasha’s turn to main event Wrestlemania and go down in history as a Royal Rumble winner.

Men’s Royal Rumble

royal rumble predictions

Our Royal Rumble prediction for the men’s match winner is Cody Rhodes. The former TNT Champion was on a role after his impressive re-debut at Wrestlemania 38. He defeated Seth Rollins at the show and proceeded to beat him twice more, most impressively inside Hell in a Cell.

If Cody Rhodes is not fit to wrestle, then the next guess for the Royal Rumble winner has to be The Rock. The Brahma Bull has previously won one Rumble match (in 2000, although his win is disputed) and does not have long left to return to the ring, as the Hollywood star has recently turned 50. With time not on his side and ready to face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, a Rumble win could set him up nicely for a championship feud with his cousin.

Royal Rumble Returns

Cody Rhodes – The American Nightmare has been out of action since Hell in a Cell 2022, where he wrestled a five-star match despite a horrific injury that looked like he’d been in a car wreck. The former AEW star is the odds-on favourite to win the match and could defy the doctors and return early to win the Rumble, just as John Cena did 15 years before

Randy Orton – Injured during a tag match with Riddle, Orton faces up to a year out of the ring. While it would be slightly early, the Viper is a safe prediction for a Royal Rumble return and would get a huge pop (as usual) for the fans who travel far and wide to see him inside the WWE ring.

Mr Kennedy – The former Mr Money in the Bank has not been seen in WWE for nearly 15 years. As part of the WWE’s Lost Generation, he had all the potential to become a WWE Champion, but injuries and backstage issues meant he never fulfilled the promises. A one-off return, like MVP and Carlito, could set up one final run for the loud mouth from Green Bay.

The Rock – As noted previously, the rumoured Wrestlemania 39 main event is Roman Reigns vs The Rock. The best time for a big return is the Royal Rumble, so we predict a big return for the former WWE Champion to have the biggest pop in Royal Rumble history.

Gable Steveson – The amateur wrestling Olympic Gold Medallist (just like WWE legend Kurt Angle) was a huge signing for WWE. He was drafted to Raw before even appearing in WWE at all and is a massive name to make a future for himself at the 2022 Royal Rumble.

He is one of the Royal Rumble 2022 surprise return predictions, as he has not been since a brief appearance at Wrestlemania 38 where he attacked fellow Olympian Chad Gable. He could be a shock favourite to win the match, although our pick still rests with Cody Rhodes.
