Gunther vs Brock Lesnar Would Be “A Big F***ing Deal!”

In the recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Jim Cornette gave his thoughts about the rumoured Gunther vs Brock Lesnar match at Wrestlemania 39. The legendary manager thinks having Gunther defeating the Beast would be a “big f***ing deal” and thinks it could go a long way into building the Imperium leader into a big star in the WWE.

The Austrian currently holds the Intercontinental Championship and is one of the most dominant champions the WWE has had in years. Meanwhile, Lesnar has been absent since wrestling Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel this year, and has recently come off of two different WWE Championship reigns.

The two superstars are some of the most dominating and brutal stars WWE have had years. Both have had multi-year long reigns in the company (Lesnar with the Universal Championship and Gunther with the United Kingdom Championship, as WALTER) and have been built as unbeatable monsters in their respective divisions over the years.

During an era in which many top stars rely more on athleticism than intimidation, they both have an undeniable aura of authenticity and realism that is seldom seen in WWE anymore, making them ideal foes for one another. A battle between the duelling goliaths could be one of the hardest-hitting, exciting and realistic matches the company has ever seen, and could help make Wrestlemania 39 one of the best events in the calendar.

Speaking on his podcast, Jim Cornette said this about Gunther vs Brock Lesnar;

“I’ve talked about in the past, that would be a great matchup, and it would help GUNTHER especially if Brock is into it, and works on getting him over. But they’re really, even though they’re completely different people and completely different styles, et cetera, et cetera, they’re two of the only guys in the WWE that really should work with each other because they’re two of the only guys that are never phony or goofy or winking at people. They’re completely legitimate in how they act as themselves and what they do.”

“Everybody knows that Brock’s the real deal, which has enhanced his you know, reputation and aura and, as Finkel would say, demeanour. And GUNTHER, I’ve said is the most perfect wrestler in the business today for wrestling and working and talking and doing things that he should do if he was really who he is purported to be. And they’re both physical, and they can both hit and they can both work.”

“I think it would be great and that could elevate especially, I know they don’t do it often, but they have had Brock do a job or two and I would f*cking have Brock Lesnar put GUNTHER over. And I think that would be a big f*cking deal.”

Brock Lesnar is currently not involved with week-to-week storylines in WWE but could make his long-awaited surprise return at the 2023 Royal Rumble. This could go some way to building up the match with Gunther, with the Beast challenging the Imperium leader for his Intercontinental Championship. If he were to win, it would be the first time Lesnar has won a non-world championship in the WWE.
