Sami Zayn is one of the most entertaining superstar on the WWE roster right now, with his relationship with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline putting one some of the funniest moments in WWE history and providing one of the greatest stories in WWE history.
He looks like an outsider in the group of proud Samoan Superstars. While they personify the famous look of a Pacific Islander in Pro Wrestling, Sami Zayn couldn’t look more different. His long ginger hair mixed with his Canadian and Syrian ancestry helps him stand out from the crowd, even though he wants so desperately to be a part of the group.
His relationship with Roman Reigns on TV is good (although Jey Uso has had some doubts over the Canadian’s acclimation into the group), but is Sami Zayn related to Roman Reigns in real life?
Is Sami Zayn Related To Roman Reigns?
No, Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns are not related by blood. A key point in the WWE is that, despite being a part of the Bloodline, Sami Zayn is not part of the Samoan family alongside Roman Reigns, Jimmy & Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa. He has however proved his loyalty to the group ad was given the title of “honorary Uso” by The Tribal Chief himself.
While they may not be related by blood, Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns are great friends in real life. They have both been in the WWE for nearly a decade at this point and have travelled thousands of miles together, in NXT and on the main roster.
The Canadian superstar was recently interviewed by WWE Deutschland and confirmed that he and The Big Dog have a great relationship, with the two stablemates getting “along very well”.
“It’s going really great. And he’s another guy that I’ve gotten along with great for the last 9-10 years as long as I’ve known him. We’ve always gotten along very well,”
He also spoke about how he doesn’t need to win any championships to become a family to the family. Roman Reigns currently holds the WWE Championship and Universal Championship, while the Usos are currently both Raw and Smackdown tag team champions. Zayn is currently goldless, but claimed that he doesn’t need a title to add value to the group/
“You know, I’m still here doing better than ever. We’re all closer than ever, except again maybe Jey [Uso]. You know, I don’t think in my case it’s necessarily about that. It’s not that kind of a conditional thing where if you can’t bring the IC Title or you can’t bring the US Title to The Bloodline, you’re not valuable. That’s just not the case with me,” Zayn noted.
Kevin Owens is rumoured to team with Sami Zayn to face The Usos at Wrestlemania 39 for the Unified Tag Team Championships. This would be the culmination to his long-term story with The Bloodline and could launch Sami Zayn into a main event program with Roman Reigns over the WWE Championship.
