The father of WWE Legend John Cena is confident that his son will appear at the Royal Rumble and Wrestling, revealing he feels “pretty good” about the stars spot on the Wrestlemania card.
John Cena Sr was introduced into the sport by his son, and considers himself the first ever reverse-second-generation superstar in history, runs his own promotion and is a manager under the name Johnny Fabulous. He has appeared on WWE TV multiple times, most notably being attacked by Randy Orton during his feud with then-WWE Champion John Cena in 2007. He even wrestled the Viper in a match on Raw.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, John Cena Sr revealed that he thinks that we “might” see John Cena in the Royal Rumble and that he feels “pretty great about Wrestlemania”, indicating that Cena will have a marquee match at the event.
“I would agree with that, and you know why? I follow the product here and there, and I think it’s heading in the right direction. Stories are beginning to make an awful lot of sense, and I think this is the beginning and I agree with you that yes, we might see him at the Royal Rumble, and I feel pretty great about WrestleMania.”
Cena Jr. is a two-time Royal Rumble winner, having won the 30-man match in 2008 and 2013. The first time he went on to face Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 24, losing the match as Randy Orton retained the title. He made up for it at Wrestlemania 29 though, defeating The Rock for the WWE Championship to avenge his loss the previous year. He is one of just a few men to have won the Royal Rumble more than once, joining legends like Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar to that accolade.
Cena is rumoured to be facing either Logan Paul or Austin Theory at Wrestlemania, with some even theorising that he could face “Stone Cold” Steve Austin a surprise dream match at the event.
