Sean Waltman has revealed that he is cleared to wrestle again, and could make his long awaited return to WWE at the 2023 Royal Rumble or in NXT.

Waltman, who has gone by many names including 1-2-3 Kid, X-Pac and Syxxx, was forced to retire from wrestling due to injuries and hepatitis which was diagnosed in 2009. Sean Waltman was a huge part of the Attitude Era, being part of D-Generation X and the NWO in WWE and WCW respectively.

Waltman, a former European Champion in WWE, underwent knee surgery in January this year and looks to be fully healed and able to wrestle again. He has previously hinted that he would love to make his return as a surprise Royal Rumble entrant, or against former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar.

Sean Waltman spoke on WWE’s The Bump this week to discuss his WWE return, discussing his surgery and when he would be able to return to the ring.

“It’s going great. My surgeon gave me the go-ahead. I just got the green light to get back in the ring. I’m just gonna get into better and better shape. I’ll be ring-ready beginning of next year, in case my phone rings,” Waltman said.

Sean Waltman’s revelation that he would be in in-ring shape in early 2022 lends credence to the rumour that he could be a surprise return to WWE in the Royal Rumble match. Former tag team partner Road Dogg made his own Royal Rumble return in 2012 and went on to win the WWE Tag Team Championship three years later, so the chance for a full time return to WWE could be an attractive proposition for X-Pac.

Sean Waltman made his debut in wrestling in 1989, but has not wrestled in over two years. He wrestled in his thirtieth year as a professional when he teamed with fellow WCW alumni Hurricane Helms and Jushin Liger in a six man tag team match. They took on the team of Caleb Konley, Jake Manning and Zane Riley, with the Japanese legend Jushin Liger picking up the victory.

Who do you want to see Sean Waltman face in WWE? Could a D-Generation X reunion with Triple H, Shawn Michaels or Road Dogg be on the cards? Or could he come back to induct Chyna into the WWE Hall of Fame.
