Seth Rollins vs Riddle set for Clash at the Castle

WWE is set to reschedule Seth Rollins vs Riddle for Clash at the Castle in Wales, after Riddle was said to suffer an injury after being attacked by Rollins during Monday Night Raw which will kept him out of their scheduled match at Summerslam 2022.

The match between the two stars was one of the most anticipated matches of the event, so fans will be upset to see the match cancelled so close to the event. However, many are wishing Riddle well in his recovery.

His injury was said to be a “brachial plexus injury” which WWE also named as a “really bad stinger”. He was also reportedly suffering from significant weakness and was taken out of action until he made a full recovery from his injury.

However, Seth Rollins vs Riddle was not actually cancelled due to injury. Fightful Select revealed that the Riddle injury was just a “work” and that the attack by Rollins was used to write him off TV until after Summerslam.

Instead, WWE plan to book Riddle vs Seth Rollins for Clash at the Castle. The show will be one of the biggest in WWE history, being the first stadium show to to take place in the UK in 30 years, since Summerslam 1992. It will be broadcast from Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and is likely to be headlined by Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre.

The change is one that will rattle WWE fans who wanted to see Rollins vs Riddle on such a huge stage. However, the move is indicative of a change of the guard as Triple H takes over the creative reigns from his disgraced Father-in-law Vince McMahon. Cancelling this match (for now) could be the first big decision he has made in charge and could signal a new phase in WWE’s lifespan.

Saving Riddle vs Seth Rollins will give WWE more chance to build a compelling feud, as very little animosity has occurred between the pair so far, despite Summerslam just days away. This could help the match in the long run, making fans more invested in an eventual match between the two in Wales in September.

Seth Rollins recently took on Cody Rhodes, losing three times in successive matches. However, the bouts were some of the best in WWE history, with their Hell in a Cell encounter gaining the full five stars from Dave Meltzer.

Meanwhile, Riddle held the Raw Tag Team Championship with partner Randy Orton, as RK-Bro, until a back injury forced Orton out of the ring for an extended period. This has allowed Riddle to move out on a singles run, with much success, challenging Roman Reigns for the world championship in a great match on Smackdown recently.
