The Young Bucks vs The Usos was a match that took place in WWE that “tore the place down”. However, it is a match that AEW and WWE fans will never EVER get to see!
The Usos are one of the top tag teams in WWE history, with brothers Jimmy and Jey Uso holding 8 World Tag Team Championships in their WWE careers. Meanwhile The Young Bucks have travelled the world and established themselves as one of the greatest tag teams of all time. They have conquered Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling (with a run in TNA that they can do without mentioning).
The brothers Matt and Nick Jackson have innovated tag team wrestling across the globe, bringing the fast paced “spot fest” style made famous in PWG to the masses, with great success. Their success in NJPW brought on the foundation of AEW, in which they were key members in the start of the promotion as well as being Executive Vice Presidents of the company.
The Young Bucks have won an incredible number of tag team title belts, which include;
- AEW World Tag Team Championship (2)
- Chikara Campeonatos de Parejas
- DGUSA Open the United Gate Championship
- AAA World Tag Team Championship
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship (7)
- IWGP Tag Team Championship
- PWG World Tag Team Championship (4)
- ROH World Tag Team Championship
- Wrestling Observer Tag Team of the Year (7)
They have long been fantasy booked to go up against The Usos in a dream match. Both teams contain a set of brothers each, with The Usos being twin brothers from Samoa whilst Matt Jackson is 2 years Nick’s senior, with the pair growing up in Florida together.
The Young Bucks vs The Usos is a dream match for so many contemporary wrestling fans. While The Young Bucks revolutionised tag team wrestling, The Usos took the fully-formed WWE-style and brought it to new heights, alongside the likes of The New Day, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd and The Revival (now FTR in AEW).
The match between the two sets of brothers would be an iconic one and a true “Forbidden Door” type scenario. The Young Bucks have never been signed to WWE, whilst The Usos have never crossed over onto the indie scene and faced teams like The Young Bucks before. Both have been dominant forces in their respective promotions and have to be named on many fans “Mount Rushmore” of Tag Team Wrestling.
However, it may shock you to find out that The Young Bucks and The Usos have faced each other before, and in a WWE for that matter!
The Young Bucks vs The Usos
The Usos vs The Young Bucks has taken place in a WWE ring. This was revealed by AEW star and former WWE legend William Regal on one of the maiden episodes of his new podcast.
With the podcast entitled “Gentleman Villain“, the former King of the Ring spoke about working as a producer in WWE, and seeing The Young Bucks vs The Usos for the first and last time in history.
Regal revealed that in 2010, The Young Bucks were working as extras in WWE after leaving TNA (due to a failed run in the promotion that they will long forget). He spoke about how he liked the two young brothers and convinced them to go into the ring and take on then-up and coming tag team The Usos, who would debut on TV that year.
The match was behind closed doors, with only WWE producers, talent at ringside and extras there that day in attendance. William Regal revealed that the match “tore the place down” and that it was a match that fans would love to see (but will never be able to).
“There was a group of extra talent that was brought to every show. Part of that was The Young Bucks. I liked them straight away. We had a great few days together. I talked to them a lot. They had some incredible matches in the afternoon. In fact, I put them on with the Usos to have a tag match and the two teams tore the place down. So that’s probably something that the fans would love to see. I saw it in the afternoon. I was raving about them.”
WWE is known to film a huge amount of footage for various reasons – documentaries, DVDs and things of that nature – so there is a chance that footage of the Young Bucks vs The Usos encounter may be out there to view one day.
However, with The Young Bucks signed to AEW and being a huge part of that company, it is unlikely WWE will release their match with The Usos any time soon to avoid giving AEW any extra publicity.
