A change in presentation occurred at AEW Double or Nothing 2023, as the commentary teamed was moved from its usual position.
Tony Khan usually places the announce table on the stage, but moved them to ringside for the Las Vegas show.
The announce table on the stage has been a staple of AEW since its inception. This took inspiration from WCW, who also had their announcers (including AEW’s Tony Schiavone) positioned on the stage.
However, the change was made for AEW Double or Nothing 2023 to move them to ringside, although the reason is currently unknown.
This was revealed when Tazz, Jim Ross and Excalibur opened the pre-show, announcing the six-man tag team match between The Hardy’s, Hook, Ethan Page and The Gunns.
The match was Jeff Hardy’s first in-ring match since last year’s event, when he and his brother Matt Hardy defeated the Young Bucks at Double or Nothing 2022.
This is the second time that AEW have moved the commentary team to ringside, after the first Fyter Fest event in 2019.
