Brian Pillman Jr Released By AEW After Underwhelming Career

Brian Pillman Jr has been released by AEW, three years after signing for the promotion.

The 29-year-old came in with huge hype behind him, being the son of the late-Brian Pillman.

He received a big push and a huge match against MJF in 2021, but failed to impress with the chances he was given.

Brian Pillman Jr was removed from the AEW roster page on July 11th,2023, indicating that he has been released from his AEW contract.

He was most notable for teaming with Griff Garrison and Julia Hart as “Varsity Blondes”, but failed to win tag team gold.

Pillman Jr had been teaming with a fellow second-generation superstar in Brock Anderson prior to his release, teaming with him in his final AEW match.

Brian Pillman Jr’s Last AEW match

Brian Pillman Jr’s last match in AEW was on May 13th 2023 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia, USA.

This was at a All Elite Wrestling “House Rules” event, which is the name for their untelevised shows.

He teamed with Brock Anderson to take on The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn), losing to the former AEW Tag Team Champions.

This was Brian Pillman Jr’s last match in AEW before his release in July 2023.

The night before, he unsuccessfully challenged Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH Championship.
