Bryan Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr Announced For AEW WrestleDream

The first match on the WrestleDream 2023 card has been announced, with a huge dream match set for the show.

Bryan Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr was announced on AEW Collision this week, when Bryan Danielson challenged his long-time admirer Zack Sabre Jr to a match that is sure to impress.

The pair were supposed to face off at Forbidden Door last year, but a concussion Danielson suffered during the Stadium Stampede match forced him out of the match (he was replaced by the debut Claudio Castagnoli).

In a promo on AEW Collision, Danielson revealed to fans that he will be winding down his career in the next year, meaning that he is going to be booking his own dream matches in that time.

To start this, he challenged “the guy who calls himself the best technical wrestler in the world”, before revealing it to be the NJPW Television Champion, Zack Sabre Jr.

“What’s next for the American Dragon? What’s next? So, I told my daughter that once he turned seven, I would start finishing up on my career, and she’s six right now. I’m a man who keeps my promises, especially to the people I love. So guess what? Time is running out.”

“But that said, I will not go gently into that good night. If you think I will, you don’t know who the hell I am. I am Odysseus heading home from the Trojan War, and I’m gonna fight the Cyclops.”

“You’re gonna have to tie me to the mast so I can face the siren song, and I’m gonna kick everybody’s head in. Because if this is my last year, if this is my final year, this will be the most epic year of my career.”

“And guess what? I’m calling my shots, and my next shot is this: October 1st, Seattle, Washington. WrestleDream. I want to fight the guy who calls himself the best technical wrestler in the world, Zack Sabre Jr”.

Bryan Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr will take place on October 1st, 2023 at the first WrestleDream pay per view.
