Kevin Owens paid tribute to Finn Balor last year at WrestleMania, wearing his branded socks for his match against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
KO main evented night one of WrestleMania 38 in 2022. He hosted an episode of The KO Show at the event, with his special guest Steve Austin.
During the event, he goaded Austin into a No Holds Barred match to end the show, marking The Texas Rattlesnake’s first WrestleMania main event since his bout with The Rock at WrestleMania 17.
Stone Cold beat Kevin Owens with his Stone Cold Stunner, ending the feud and sending the crowd in his home state of Texas home happy.
The match was the subject of the latest WWE 24 Documentary, documenting the behind-the-scenes look of WrestleMania 38. It showed Owens talking about his match with Steve Austin, as well as his silent, post-match reflection on facing off with his hero.
However, he also paid tribute to one of his biggest rivals in NXT during the match. Underneath his wrestling boots, Kevin Owens wore Finn Balor-socks.
The socks featured an image of Balor’s Demon persona, the alter-ego of the former NXT Champion that is brought out only for the biggest match – including his Hell in a Cell match against Edge at WrestleMania 39.
