It’s nearly two years since Sabu wrestled his last match in wrestling, but fans still clamour for more of the former ECW Champion.

Sabu, also known as Terry Brunk, was a legend in the world of professional wrestling.

Known for his high-flying and hardcore wrestling style, Sabu left an indelible mark on the industry during his career that spanned over three decades.

However, all good things must come to an end, and Sabu’s last match in WWE was a moment that many fans will never forget.

In this article, we’ll take a look back at Sabu’s incredible career, his final match in WWE, and the impact he had on the world of professional wrestling.

Sabu’s Last WWE Match

Sabu’s last match in the WWE came on the 1st May, 2007 on an episode of ECW on Sci Fi.

On the show, Sabu wrestled his final match with the WWE, in an “Extreme Rules Fatal 4 Way Match”. This meant that the match had no rules, and featured four ECW originals competing in the bout.

Sabu took on The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer and Rob Van Dam in this throwback match, although it only lasted 6 minutes, despite the Extreme starpower in the match.

Former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam won the match, and earned himself a match against Vince McMahon the following week, whilst Sabu would be fired not long after.

He Announced His Retirement In 2021

In November 2021, Sabu announced his retirement from professional wrestling.

The ECW legend had spent over 30 years in the wrestling, innovating a hardcore style of wrestling that lives on to this day.

He recently appeared on an episode of the “Wrestling Shoot Interviews”, where he discussed all facets of his career, before announcing his retirement.

“I’m not doing real good. I hurt my back about a year ago and it’s still been hurting. I wrestled a couple of weeks ago but I shouldn’t have. I’ve only wrestled like twice in the last year…

I only went to the gym a couple of times the last year ’cause I hurt my back. I’m probably not gonna wrestle no more… I’m probably just gonna do autograph signings and personal appearance-type stuff .”Sabu, announcing his retirment

Sabu has already retired from wrestling, wrestling his last match in July 2021 at an independent event for XWWW, where he picked up a victory against Mr. California.

However, Sabu has revealed that, if he had one last “retirement match”, he’d pick on WWE star as his last opponent.

Sabu vs Brock Lesnar Is A Dream Match

While he admitted the chances of it happening aren’t great, Sabu told “Title Match Wrestling” that he would like to retire from wrestling with a match against Brock Lesnar.

Sabu has never wrestled against Brock Lesnar, not even in multi-man matches or in the Royal Rumble.

Their differing styles would make for a great match, with a more extreme version of Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan surely being the story of the match.

“My dream opponent for my retirement match would be Brock Lesnar,” Sabu said. “It’ll never happen, but I like Brock, I love Brock. I don’t even know him, but I like his work.

I like what he does, he doesn’t do anything I do. Everything he does, I don’t do, and that’s what I wanna do. I wanna wrestle somebody who don’t do my s**t.”
