Sammy Guevara Pays Tribute To Brodie Lee At Forbidden Door

Sammy Guevara paid tribute to Brodie Lee at Forbidden Door, during one of the most high-profile matches of his career.

The Spanish God teamed with long-time partner Chris Jericho, and Minoru Suzuki in the second-last match of the show.

The three men took on an all-star team, comprised of Darby Allin, Sting and Tetsuya Naito.

The match was filled with huge spots, including Sammy Guevara hitting a 630 senton from the top rope, which sent Sting crashing through a table on the outside.

Naito pinned Suzuki to win the match, but it was Sammy Guevara’s nod to the late Brodie Lee that caught the fan’s eye at Forbidden Door.

For his entrance alongside Jericho at the event, Sammy Guevara wore a sleeveless jacket adorned with various patches.

One of these patches said “Brodie Forever”, a clear reference to former TNT Champion Brodie Lee.

Brodie Lee passed away on Boxing Day 2020, after a previously unknown battle with illness. Brodie Lee was said to be close with Sammy Guevara, with this patch being his nod toward the former Luke Harper.

Sammy Guevara never wrestled Brodie Lee during his career, something which is bound to be a sore spot for the young star.

Both Sammy and Brodie are former TNT Champions who were destined for even bigger things in AEW. Sadly, Brodie Lee has been gone for nearly three years now, and AEW have never really filled the hole he left.
