Seth Rollins WrestleMania Main Event Matches, Ranked

Seth Rollin is set to take on Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39, a far cry from the coveted main event of WrestleMania.

The man who headlines the biggest event of the year is always considered the biggest star in the company. Whether it be Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin or Roman Reigns, ending the night on top makes you The Guy.

However, one man who is dying to headline The Grandaddy of them All is former WWE Champion Seth Rollins. As a founder of The Shield, he is a top star in the WWE, but couldn’t quite reach the top of the mountain when it came to April.

But did Seth Rollins ever main event WrestleMania? The answer may be slightly complicated.

Has Seth Rollins Main Evented WrestleMania?

If you want to know whether Seth Rollins ever main evented WrestleMania, then the answer is a tricky one.

The concept of “main eventing” a pay per view means that, typically, you are the biggest match on the card, your match is used to sell the show and you are the last match on the show.

The idea is that people will buy the show to see your match, but sit through the rest of the show to get to your match.

In the meantime, they’d watch the event and become fans of other wrestlers, and continue watching in the future for them.

So, if we look at it under that lens, then you could say that Seth Rollins has not main evented WrestleMania. The show was never built on his back and his match was never promoted as the main event.

That being said, he did wrestle in the last match at WrestleMania 31 (confusing, I know). The former Shield member ran out of WrestleMania 31 as the WWE Champion, interrupting the final match of the card and changing the wrestling world forever.

Seth Rollins’ WrestleMania Main Event

Seth Rollins wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 31. However, he was not a part of the bout when the bell rang to mark the start of the bout.

In fact, he wasn’t booked to be in it at all!

Earlier in the day, he had faced off against Randy Orton. The pair had been feuding for months, and this match came at the culmination of one of the most heated rivalries at the time.

Despite trying his best, Rollins fell to Orton. It made for one of the most memorable WrestleMania moments ever, however, as Orton launched Rollins off his own neck, catching him in an RKO that blew the roof off the open-air stadium.

It seemed like Seth Rollins WrestleMania was over, but he had an ace up his sleeve – the Money in the Bank contract.

The year prior, Rollins had won a ladder match to crown a new Mr Money In The Bank. He was in possession of a gold briefcase, which entitled the holder to one WWE Championship match, at any time of their choosing.

So far, this had always been used after a wrestler was beaten down after a match, or used to set up a match ahead of time (think Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand 2006).

However, Rollins thought differently. He did cash in his contract on the night of WrestleMania, but did something nobody had ever done before – crashing the main event.

He ran in during the Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar match, as the two behemoths were clashing for the WWE Championship. The crowd erupted as his music hit, and Seth Rollins ran down the ramp with ferocious speed.

He slid into the ring, handing referee Mike Chioda his briefcase, officially making the match a Triple Threat match.

After about 5 minutes of battling, Seth Rollins curb stomped Roman Reigns into the match and pinned him. He became the WWE Champion in the main event of WrestleMania, completely a life-long dream for many.

Seth Rollins was expected to main event WrestleMania 35, in a match against Brock Lesnar. However, due to the first ever all-female main event, their match went on first, with Rollins winning the Universal Championship from The Beast.
