Throwback To FTR’s Debut In AEW In 2020

The tag team known as FTR made their debut in AEW on the May 27th, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite. The team is comprised of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood and were one of the biggest signings for AEW during the pandemic era of wrestling.

The duo were known as The Revival in WWE and went by the names Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson. They won all the tag titles in the company but were unhappy with their role creatively. FTR asked for their release multiple times over a two year period, with it finally being granted at the beginning of 2020.

While they were paid well and being booked as champions, that was not enough creatively for the duo. Speaking on the debut episode of “FTR With Dax Harwood“, the former AEW Tag Team Champion let slip why he and partner Cash Wheeler walked out of WWE at the end of their contracts.

“I do think that you should be grateful for what you have, but I also believe that if you don’t stand up for what you believe in, no one else will. And me and Cash worked with the biggest wrestling company in the world and there was a time we knew we had to move on.”

“We never did that. We just wanted better for ourselves. We wanted better for the tag team division because we knew that if the division grew, we could grow with that division. And we knew that if we stayed in the rut that we were in, we were never gonna be elevated.”

FTR made their AEW debut on the May 27, 2020, saving long-time online rivals The Young Bucks from an attack by The Butcher and The Blade. They would have some legendary matches against the brothers, losing the tag team titles they won from Adam Page & Kenny Omega to the Bucks at AEW Full Gear 2020.

FTR’s debut in AEW was one that most fans never thought we’d see. Whilst The Young Bucks vs FTR had been teased for years on social media, it seemed to be just a pipe dream. FTR were WWE lifers, it seemed, having come through the NXT system together making their name as “The Revival”. When All Elite Wrestling started up, they were offered bumper contracts to stay, like many other talents were. Due to their previously mentioned issues, they turned down the deals and waited for their contracts to expire.

They went on to become one of the top tag teams in AEW. Since their debut, FTR have won the AEW Tag Team Championships once and joined MJF in the faction known as “The Pinnacle”. They wrestled numerous great matches against the likes of The Young Bucks, The Acclaimed and Adam Page & Kenny Omega, coming out on top multiple times. They also held three tag team titles at the same time, being AAA, ROH and IWGP Heavyweight tag champions during one incredible period.

FTR have always liked to work the fans ever since their debut in AEW. Dax Harwood recently posted a now-deleted photo which included what looks to be part of a WWE logo in the corner. This could mean that they are leaving the company soon to return to WWE or simply are trying to trick the fans into thinking they are.
