Tony Khan Paid For Mark Davis Surgery, Despite Not Being Signed To AEW

Tony Khan announced that Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher are All Elite, as Aussie Open signed with AEW after this week’s AEW Dynamite.

This came after Kyle Fletcher fell short in his attempt to take the AEW International Championship from Orange Cassidy, getting rolled up by the champion in disappointing defeat.

However, Mark Davis was not in attendance, as he is currently recovering from a meniscus surgery that cost Aussie Open their NJPW Tag Team titles.

However, even before they were signed to AEW, Tony Khan paid for Mark Davis surgery, as simply a gesture of goodwill toward the Australian star.

This act clearly made an impact on the group, and surely was part of the reason they left NJPW to sign for AEW full-time.

On Twitter, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed this story, Tweeting out;

“An interesting note from our Fightful Select story — Tony Khan paid for Mark Davis’ meniscus surgery himself while Aussie Open weren’t under contract. Pretty cool gesture”

It is unknown how long Mark Davis will be out for, but once he recovers from his injury, Aussie Open will be on track to become AEW Tag Team Champions.

Their signing also increases the odds of Will Ospreay signing with AEW, as he currently teams with the duo as part of his United Empire faction in NJPW.
