Penelope Ford has not been seen in AEW for months. The “Superbad Girl” was last seen wrestling 6 months ago, when she faced Angelica Risk on an episode of AEW Dark. Ford picked up the win in a short, four minute match, but has not been seen since.
Fans have been asking where Penelope Ford, AEW’s future star of the women’s division and the wife of Kip Sabian, has been over the last six months after missing her on TV for that length of time. She gained a host of fans in her performance against Tay Conti and Anna Jay, teaming with The Bunny, at New Year’s Smash in a street fight.
She also gained huge press when she wedded Kip Sabian live on AEW Dynamite at the start of 2021. At the Beach Break episode of Dynamite, she wedded Sabian before Orange Cassidy interrupted the nuptials and ruined the wedding due to his feud with Sabian and his best man Miro (formerly Rusev in WWE).
However she has not been seen in some months despite gaining a host of fans, and many are wondering what happened to Penelope Ford?
What happened to Penelope Ford?
Tony Khan was questioned on Twitter about what happened to Penelope Ford since her last appearance on AEW Dark in January. Twitter user @RocBoijj questioned Khan’s commitment to pushing Ford and implied the AEW President had “given up” on the Superbad Girl.
Tony Khan responded to the concerns surround Penelope Ford. He assured the fans that he had not given up on her, and even called her a “great wrestler” who he couldn’t wait to be “medically cleared” and return to the ring for some more great matches.
In his Twitter reply, Tony Khan said;
“Not at all, total opposite in fact; she’s a great wrestler, and I can’t wait until she’s medically cleared to come back. She’s been in some classic @AEW matches, and hopefully she’ll be in many more!”
When will Penelope Ford return from injury?
Penelope Ford returned to AEW on the 10th August edition of AEW Dark; Elevation in a winning effort against Heather Reckless. It was her first match in seven months and puts her back on the road to top of the AEW women’s division, albeit without the held of husband Kip Sabian, who remains injured.
She made her TV comeback the following week on AEW Rampage. The Superbad Girl faced off with Athena, who was a former star in WWE under the name Ember Moon. However, she struggled in the match and lost to her opponent in a disappointing result.
She is a welcome return to a women’s division that is growing into one of the best in the world. She will be competing with top stars like Thunder Rosa, Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Toni Storm, Ruby Soho and many, many more stars of AEW.
It will be a tough group to break into but before her injury she was improving every week and with hard work and a bit of luck she could be at the top of the division in AEW before Penelope Ford knows it.
