CM Punk defeated Adam Page at AEW Double or Nothing 2022 to win his first AEW Championship, putting him on top the wrestling world for the first time in 10 years.
His victory opened up a huge number of dream matches in the future, like CM Punk vs Will Ospreay or CM Punk vs Kenny Omega. All of these matches seemed like pipe dreams before his incredible return in August last year.
But which NJPW star teased a match with CM Punk at Forbidden Door.

In a Tweet after AEW Double or Nothing 2022, Will Ospreay hinted that he will face CM Punk at the Forbidden Door pay per view next month.
After watching CM Punk defeat Adam Page to become the 5th ever AEW Champion, Will Ospreay took to Twitter to post a cryptic Tweet hinting at a CM Punk vs Will Ospreay match.
Ospreay posted a recent photo of himself, adorned with the Rev Pro Championship around his waist. The majestic photo was accompanies by a caption that said “When a leader speaks, that leader dies“
This is a reference to CM Punk’s entrance music “Cult of Personality” by Living Color, with the quote being a direct quote from the song in question.
Referencing CM Punk’s theme song is a clear indication of Will Ospreay vs CM Punk being the intention to be booked by Will Ospreay. While the show is being jointly planned by AEW and NJPW bookers Tony Khan and Gedo, the wrestlers themselves surely have some input and would be letting their bosses know which dream matches they want.
Other AEW vs NJPW that have been rumoured include KENTA vs CM Punk, Will Ospreay vs Kenny Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Jon Moxley.
