AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming Preview: Adam Page vs Bryan Danielson & More

AEW Dynamite presents the second annual Winter is Coming on Wednesday 15th December 2021. Like last year, the AEW Championship will be on the line, and a host of other matches have already been announced for the show.

The show will be broadcast from Garland, Texas and will feature a world-class wrestling card for fans in attendance and fans watching around the world. Currently, AEW have announced four matches for the show already, with the likely main event to be Bryan Danielson taking on Adam Page for the AEW Championship.

Other matches include the Dynamite Diamond Ring final where two-time holder MJF faces Dante Martin, with the winner taking possession of the ring for another year. In other matches, Wardlow takes on Matt Sydal whilst the TBS Championship tournament semi-final goes ahead aswell.

Bryan Danielson vs Adam Page – AEW Championship

Bryan Danielson finally gets his AEW Championship opportunity he won at AEW Full Gear. He defeated Miro in the AEW Championship tournament at the PPV to become the number one contender for Adam Page’s title. Since then, he has shown a more aggressive side to his game, systematically destroying each member of the Dark Order, and in their home towns no less.

Danielson has racked up wins against Evil Uno, Alan Angels, Colt Cabana and John Silver on course to facing Adam Page. He’s getting in the head of Page, taking away the friends he only just let back into his life. He will stop at nothing to beat Page and win his first AEW World Heavyweight Championship.

His opponent is the new AEW Champion, “Hangman” Adam Page. Page defeated long time friend and rival Kenny Omega at Full Gear to win the title, which he first challenged for over two years ago at the first All Out show. His title win was a culmination of years of hard work and struggle, and has earned his way into being the most popular babyface on the show.

It’s currently up in the air who will win this match. Whilst Bryan Danielson vs Adam Page will certainly be a hugely exciting match, both men need to win but neither can afford to lose. Danielson is currently undefeated in AEW, and a loss could severely halt his momentum, and who knows when he’d get another shot at the Championship. Meanwhile, Page has spent so long finding his confidence on the road to winning the Championship, if he loses to Danielson then his whole world could crumble again.

Prediction: Page wins in a great match, shakes Danielson’s hand after the match. It will be Adam Page’s best matches.

MJF vs Dante Martin – Dynamite Diamond Ring

The two time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner looks to make it three in a row when he walks into Winter is Coming. MJF, currently embroiled in a heated feud with CM Punk, has been on a hot streak since joining AEW, only losing a handful of matches in his entire run.

Dante Martin has also been recently occupied, with him recently joining, then betraying, Team Taz. He aligned himself with Lio Rush as the pair look to take on Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs and maybe even AEW’s next big star HOOK in tag team action, but he first has to turn him attention to MJF in what will certainly be a great match.

Both men will have to keep their wits about them in this match. MJF and Dante Martin have been making lots of enemies lately, who will certainly interfere in this match and try to catch their rivals off guard.

Prediction: MJF wins after mass interference, CM Punk stands tall at the end after GTSing MJF.

Wardlow vs Matt Sydal

A more low key affair than the first two matches. This pair have barely interacted, save from inside the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale. Wardlow eliminated Sydal, but Tony Khan must have sensed the tension between the pair and booked the match for this week.

This match which likely be another dominant win for Wardlow. He has been on a roll as of late and shows no signs of stopping. They are clearly building him up for a big match in the future, possibly even turning on MJF for the much hyped MJF vs Wardlow match.

Prediction: Wardlow wins a quick match, then 12 powerbombs later finally leaves.

Hikaru Shida vs Serena Deeb – TBS Championship Tournament Semi Final

Serena Deeb takes on Hikura Shida for a chance to compete for the TBS Championship next month, at Winter is Coming. The semi final match up is one of the most hotly contested of all, with both women facing each other twice in recent months. They each hold a win over the other, with Serena Deeb stopped Shida from winning her 50th match in AEW with her victory last month.

The winner of this match will face the winner of Jade Cargill and Thunder Rosa in January. That match will take place on the 6th January 2022, to be crowned the inaugural TBS Champion. Both Hikaru Shida and Serena Deeb are two of the best in-ring talents in the AEW Women’s division, and their previous bouts have proved that this match is likely to be a great one.

Prediction: Hikaru Shida wins, facing Thunder Rosa in the final on January 6th.
