Dakota Kai revealed that she didn’t know about returning to WWE until the day before Summerslam 2022. She made her big return to the company at the event, thanks to Triple H, but told Today FM that the return was not finalised until very late in proceedings and almost didn’t come through in time.
“I literally got told about all of this a day before, it was really that much of a whirlwind,” Dakota Kai told Today FM. “There had been a few conversations, but nothing official. I didn’t even know if I wanted to do this anymore.”
Dakota Kai’s WWE return months after her release from the company. She had not wrestled on the independents since her release, although she had rebranded herself outside of the WWE. She changed her name to “King Kota” and changed up her look, although she returned to the company before she could market herself away from Triple H’s promotion.
She also spoke about her relationship with Triple H and how he was influential in her returning to the company.
“I think my relationship with Hunter from before when I was in ‘NXT,’ he knows me and he knows what I am capable of. It’s safe to say he is a big reason why I am part of everything now.” Dakota Kai said, giving the new Head of Creative for WWE the credit for her return to the company after months away.
She returned at Summerslam 2022, alongside her new teammates Bayley and IO SKY (formerly NXT star Io Sharai). The trio have become one of the top teams in the women’s division and have a huge match booked for Clash at the Castle. The trio will take on Asuka, Alexa Bliss and Bianca Belair in a massive six-woman tag team match that is sure to wow fans at the show in Cardiff.
Clash at the Castle is WWE’s first stadium show in the United Kingdom in 30 years, and the card for the event is as follows;
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (Undisputed WWE Universal Champion)
- Liv Morgan (c) vs. Shayna Baszler (Smackdown Women’s Championship)
- Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY

- Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus (Intercontinental Championship)
- Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgment Day
