Former WWE Superstar Jamie Noble was stabbed by a crazed driver in a frenzy of road rage, in one of wrestling’s most shocking stories in the last few years. The event was one of the most terrifying thing to happen to a WWE superstar ever and would put an end to his wrestling career once and for all. He hasn’t wrestled since 2009 and the injuries and mental scars from the attack were too much to bare.
As a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and Ring of Honor World Champion, Jamie Noble was a popular name in WWE and considered one of the top wrestlers in the company. However due to his small size and southern accent, he was never given the push which his talent deserved in the company. He wrestled for WCW until it’s closure then had two separate runs in WWE – from 2001 to 2004 and from 2005-2009. In between, he made his home Ring of Honor and won their World Championship in a four-way match involving CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels.
Once he retired from wrestling in 2009, he continued to work for WWE backstage, working as an agent and producer for matches of various WWE superstars. He worked backstage for a number of years and even wrestled a house show match against Daniel Bryan, in a surprise appearance in 2012. He would appear occasionally on WWE TV, being in the background of backstage segments or appearing in the ring to break up particularly intense brawls.
He became a key figure again on Raw and Smackdown when he joined forces with Seth Rollins as part of the villainous faction “The Authority”. He and Joey Mercury became known as “J&J Security” and provided protection for then-Mr Money in the Bank Seth Rollins, and took a number of intense bumps in order to protect their employer. They regulary took beatings intended for Rollins and became one of the most entertaining superstars on the roster. They were likened to “The Stooges”, Gerald Briscoe and Pat Patterson, and even appeared backstage with them on the Wrestlemania 31 pre-show.
However, he would be written off WWE in July 2015 after a series of brutal attacks by Brock Lesnar left him with three broken ribs. J&J Security were split off from Seth Rollins and returned back to their roles backstage, although a year later he would suffer even worse injuries when he was attacked outside his trailer park,
In October 2016 Jamie Noble was stabbed multiple times in the back and neck following a road rage accident outside of his home in West Virginia. The former ROH Champion reportedly “cut off” the victim on the highway on his way home, with the perpetrators following him back to him and starting an altercation which turned violent. The two men then stabbed Noble, once in the back and puncturing his lung and another in the shoulder, before fleeing from the scene and leaving him alone. They also tried to slice his throat to kill him but he managed to fight them off enough to avoid certain death.
He was taken to hospital where it was touch and go for a while. His lung was filling with blood and he felt like he was having a heart attack. The doctors spent four days trying to repair his lung and save his life, and he spent four days with wires hanging out of his chest, praying for his life. He then offered a total $700 ransom for any details on the killers, although it has not been reported whether or not they caught the criminals who tried to kill him.
Noble fully recovered from the injuries and went back to his job in WWE. He was last seen the March 12, 2021 episode of Smackdown, where he helped split up a fight between Cesaro and Seth Rollins before their incredible bout at Wrestlemania 37. So far that is the latest appearance has had in WWE. So far, Jamie Noble is not planned to wrestle again and his injuries have made it so he wont ever do so again.
After his stabbing, Jamie Noble released this statement on Facebook, detailing what happened and asking people for any information on finding the criminals.
I was viciously attacked in my front yard. One coward got out of the car saying I pushed him off the road. I immediately [apologized] because I was on the road all week and Just that night alone I got off work Tuesday night and drove from Cleveland to Princeton so I could have been tired and drifted over the yellow line. [Nonetheless] I apologized and he could have called the cops. But no that’s not what [happened]
I pulled in to my house and the car rolled up on me the guy was talking and getting out of the car at thw same time as I said sh** dude if I cut you off I’m sorry. At that point the first punch was thrown it hit me. The guy got cocky and started talking sh** like a punk. He tried a second shot and ended up on his head and me on top of him pounding the sh** out of this trouble maker. At this point his two p***y friends that I didn’t see jump out of car and start in on me. I refuse to quit and at less [note: Gibson meant unless] one pulls a knife like 3 on 1 wasn’t enough.
In the middle of this madness one coward pulls a knife stabbing me once through the back near my [spine]. The blade went between my ribs and hit my lung. I still tried to fight back and then. They tried to cut my throat I was able to get them to miss the throat and rip my shoulder open. My girl busted out of the house saving me from any more damage.
I end up in Princeton but my lung is [filling] up with blood and they need to Medevac me to a big hospital. The weather was tough so I had to ride the ambulance. The whole tome bleeding out on the inside. Felt like I was having a heart attack. Got to Roanoke VA went straight to surgery that was tough. Then spend 4 days trying to get my lung working again. Walking around with tube in my [chest].
Good news is I’m getting a little better everyday. And I will be back on my feet 100% soon. I need help from my [Facebook] family. I need you to share this with everyone you can.
