The wrestling world was in shock today when Stephanie McMahon announced she was leaving WWE for an extended period of absence.
Stephanie McMahon leaving came as a huge shock to officials backstage in WWE, who had no clue that she was planning to take time off after a busy Wrestlemania period.
Her holiday from her duties in WWE comes after a turbulent year in which her husband suffered a “cardiac event” which caused Triple H to retire from in-ring activity after a storied 30 year career.
Stephanie McMahon is a higher-up in WWE’s corporate structure, having started out as a receptionist in WWE when she was just a teenager. She has since risen to the ranks of Chief Brand Officer (CBO) in WWE and is likely to take back her position once she returns from her hiatus.
Her brother Shane McMahon was recently fired from WWE after the 2022 after a disastrous Royal Rumble performance. Meanwhile, Stephanie has not wrestled since Wrestlemania 34, when she teamed with husband Triple H to take on Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey.

Stephanie McMahon announced she was leaving WWE on hiatus on a Twitter post on May 19, 2022.
In a statement posted to her personal Twitter account, Stephanie McMahon announced “As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
The announcement came as a great shock to officials backstage in WWE, according to PWInsider. Accoridng to their report only McMahon’s inner circle was aware of her decision, although investors were notified of her planned absence.
According to Brandon Thurston on Twitter, WWE President Nick Khan will be “taking over most of Stephanie McMahon’s duties” with her leaving WWE, and that “select WWE business partners” were informed of her hiatus
The date of Stephanie McMahon’s return is unknown and we will update you when that information becomes available to us.
