A variety of WWE legends and former stars have been touted as entrants into this years Royal Rumble. We previously reported the rumours of Sean Waltman and Ronda Rousey potentially entering their respective Royal Rumbles. However, WWE have recently been considering another star to return to WWE as a surprise Royal Rumble entrant.
Former NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane has been talked about backstage as one name to be a surprise entrant in the 2022 Royal Rumble. Fightful reported that backstage Vince McMahon and co. were considering bringing back the Japanese star for the first time in 18 months.
It has been a year and half since Kairi Sane was last seen on WWE TV. She was a star on WWE TV has one half of the Kabuki Warriors, where she and Asuka won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. However since 2020 she has been stationed in Japan as an official WWE ambassador.
Sane has also done commentary work for WWE in Japan. It was expected that she would leave WWE soon once her WWE contract expires, so bringing her in for one more shot in front of the fans seems an odd decision. However recent WWE releases have left them with a threadbare women’s division so it seems that they are taking anyone they can get at the moment.
