In 2019, Batista warned Chuck Taylor to respect the business, and that pro-wrestling tradition is “beyond your years” – despite Chuck Taylor wrestling for longer than The Animal.
Chuck Taylor began wrestling in 2002, when he was just 15-years-old. As of 2019, he has 17-years experience in the business, as opposed to Batista who left the WWE a decade after starting training.
While Batista was vastly more successful – winning the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship in WWE multiple times – he had no right to lecture a more experienced wrestler on the history of the business.
This all stemmed from a now-deleted Tweet from Chuck Taylor in 2019. The AEW star complained that he went to the famous Ribera Steakhouse in Japan (a famous restraunt that awards wrestlers with their trademark jacket) with Kazuchika Okada, but was not given a jacket.
“I went to Ribera with goddamn Okada and they didn’t give me one of those coats that place ca suck one.” Taylor Tweeted, prompting a stern reply from Batista.
The former WWE star replied by offering some advice to Chuck Taylor, warning him not to disrespect the business over “a jacket you didn’t receive.”.
Chuck Taylor did delete the Tweet soon after, but that meant little. He regularly purges his Twitter account, deleting Tweets on a daily basis, no matter how funny.
It is unknown if Chuck Taylor ever got his Ribera Jacket, although fellow AEW star Eddie Kingston was given one during his recent time spent in NJPW.
The Highspots Wrestling Network discussed the issue soon after, taking a light-hearted look at the situation involving Batista and Chuck Taylor.
